As we start a new school year, 1st & 2nd class are busy exploring the theme of “All About Me”. This week, we put a fun twist on our self-portraits and created Minecraft selfies. Great work, boys and girls!

It’s Christmas Eve and Santa’s in a mood! He’s seen too many episodes of Supernanny and thinks children don’t deserve presents anymore, so he goes on strike!
As Mrs. Claus and the elves show him snapshots of family life, will he realise that Christmas is still a time of giving, caring and sharing? You bet he will, and so will you in this celebration of all that is good about Christmas… and about children!
What a fabulous day we had on our school tour 2022. ” This is awesome” was what some of the pupils were saying even before we got to Graune Pet Farm as this was the first time some pupils were ever on a bus! We had lots of singing on the way and the excitement was palpable. Then when we arrived at Graune, the pupils went straight into the indoor play area where they had great fun on the slides. From here we spent some time outside in the sand arena and on the zip lines. Then we stopped for lunch and after that we went on a tour of the farm where we meet the various animals that live there. The pupils got to feed and pet lots of the animals which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Some pupils even exclaimed they could now “talk rooster!”. After this we had fun and laughs in the outside playground until it was home time. We had one last cuddle with our rabbit friends and then made the journey home. I bet everyone will sleep well tonight after such a brilliant day out together. Here are some pics from our day out!

Go n-éirí libh!
Well we have finally reached Summer with May day tomorrow and the bank holiday weekend to enjoy! On this weekend each year the WOI Women’s Mini Marathon takes places usually in Castlebar but this year like many other events it is happening virtually. The Mini Mini is the children’s fun run that is held at this annual event. Our class have been amazing in this year doing their 2kms therefore I registered them for this event and today at school we completed our 2km in our fabulous Mayo Day t-shirts kindly given to us by Mayo Sports Partnership with great help from Deirdre Donnelly. This year the theme for the fun run is ‘Kids just run for fun’.
If you are in a position to, your child can complete the fun run over the weekend and if you wanted you can make a donation of €2 to a children’s charity of your choice. I have provided a 2021 race number where you can write in the hero you are running for. Mayo Sports Partnership are asking that you send your pictures and videos in to them of you or your child taking part if you want to share in this great celebration. Pictures can be emailed or posted on Social Media using hashtags #Mayoday #WOIMM
