As part of our visit to the Ludum Science Centre a larger-than-life scientist had the pupils enthralled with a series of experiments, many of which would not be out of place in a magic show. The theme was ‘Having Fun with Science’ and it certainly achieved its objective!
Our visit to the Ludum Science Centre was very interesting with a thought-provoking introduction to the properties of solids, liquids and gasses. The pupils interacted very well with the scientist who explored, with the children, the subject of matter, its motion and how it interacts with energy and forces.
This morning we had a lovely welcoming ceremony at the school. The first piece of music played was the European anthem ‘Ode to Joy’ by Beethoven. The pupils performed songs and traditional dances which were fantastic. Our pupils get on very well with the pupils from their host families. They really can’t do enough for everyone. After lunch we went to a science museum for coding classes and science experiments. Below is a short video to give a flavour of the day.
We arrived in Catania at 23.15 after major delays because of the weather. The Italian parents gave us a lovely welcome and we have a long lie-in tomorrow because of the late arrival. ☺
