Healthy Eating Policy

This is a reminder that our Healthy Eating Policy aims to develop positive and responsible attitudes to eating and to appreciate the contribution that good food makes to good health. It does not allow chocolate bars, biscuits, confectionery icing or chocolate yogurts. Cereal bars are allowed under the policy. Occasional treats are given in the school at the teacher's discretion. Parents are reminded to please comply with the school's healthy eating policy when filling your child's lunchbox.

For the benefit of new entrant parents our experience with Frube yogurt shots (pictured opposite) especially in the Junior room is that they are difficult for children of that age to consume. More often than not the contents end up being squirted by accident on the uniform, desk or floor.

We would encourage parents to substitute these with any other form of yogurt. Thank you for your co-operation.

Handball

The pupils in the Middle and Senior room enjoyed handball coaching recently and we are grateful to Tim Foley of Tourmakedy handball club for his work with the pupils and invitation to Ballinrobe Sports Complex for the final session.

If any pupil would like to take it further please contact Ger Prendergast, Claremorris Handball Club on 085 1438437.

After-school Homework Club

After-school care is available from 1.30pm. Supervised homework, play, activities & varied menu. Pay only for the hours used and monitor your hours online. The service can be used on an occasional basis - €4.50/hour for 1 child, €4 each per hour for 2 children, €3.50 each per hour for 3 children.

National Childcare Scheme (NCS)
The launch date of this scheme, which includes a subsidy to parents for pupils attending after-school, has been postponed until November.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

We are once again delighted to be part of the Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. Thanks to all parents who put together Shoebox parcels for Team Hope with their children. It is such a worthy cause and Team Hope brings so much joy to so many children at Christmas time. This year Team Hope shoeboxes from Ireland will go to street children, orphans, children in hospital, poor families, victims of war or other needy situations in some African countries, Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union. Thanks to Veronica for distributing the pamphlets and collecting the shoeboxes from the school. Please return to the school by Friday, November 8th.

Crypto-currency Trading

We are delighted to share the following Twitter thread from Mona El Isa, co-founder of @melonport and @MAMA_global. It was a fantastic experience to introduce the pupils to crypto trading and the history of money.
