Senior Room pupils win €5000 in Crypto Asset Management Competition
|
Over the past two weeks the pupils in the Senior room took part in a crypto-currency asset management competition organised by Swiss company Melonport. The pupils learned to trade a number of crypto currencies on a decentralised asset management platform being developed by Melonport. Over 700 funds were entered globally with the top 100 funds winning Melon coins which are currently valued at €110 each. Our funds in the top 100 are currently valued at over €5000 which is a great achievement and a very valuable contribution to the school building fund. There were some registration issues regarding our funds and to prove we were genuine I sent Melonport an impromptu video of the pupils answering questions on the project. The Melonport team asked for permission to publish it on their website which they have done under the tiltle – Meet the next generation of asset managers.
The video can be viewed here on YouTube. It was an exciting project where the children progressed from the history of money to the hyper-inflation of the Weimar Republic to the 2008 financial crash and subsequent development of the blockchain and crypto currencies such as bitcoim. Over the two weeks of the competition the pupils went from buying anything and everything to developing an actual trading strategy focussed on lesser priced coins which gave a greater percentage return. Their success in reaching the top 100 is a great achievement. |
