The four-year term of the present School
Board of Management will conclude at the
end of October 2015. The Board of Management manages the
school on behalf of the patron
(Archbishop Michael Neary) and is
accountable to the patron and the
Minister. The Board must uphold the
characteristic spirit (ethos) of the
school and is accountable to the patron
for so doing.
The Board is responsible for the day to day
management of the school including
heating, cleaning and maintenance of the
building. The appointment of teachers
and other staff is the duty of the
Board. The Board is also responsible for
ensuring that the finances necessary for
the running of the school are available.

The Board is made up of eight people
with representatives of the patron, the
parent body, the teachers and the wider
community. An election process is
conducted every four years. The members of
the current Board are as follows:
Patron’s nominees: John Hession
(chairperson), Fr. Michael Murphy.
Parents’/Community representatives: P.J.
Commins, Sandie Hession, Andrew Heaney,
Nóirín Mulhern.
Teachers: Pádraig Ó Beirn, Niamh
Naughton
Meetings take place at the school, on
average one per term.
In two weeks' time a list of all parents
with pupils in our school will be
circulated. This will associate parent names
with the classes attended by their children.
In line with the requirements of the Data
Protection Act, 1988, if you don't wish to
have this information circulated please let
the school know by Friday, September 25th.
From this list each parent may make one
nomination for the fathers' panel and one
for the mothers' panel. The ten persons in
receipt of the highest number of nominations
for each panel will be contacted to
establish that they are willing to stand for
election. In the event of a tie for the
tenth position, this number may be increased
by the appropriate amount to accommodate
those tied at the tenth position.
A
secret ballot will then be held in October
and all parents may vote for those nominees
who have confirmed their willingness to
become members of the Board. Separate ballot
papers will be used for the election to the
mothers' and fathers' panel.
Each parent voting shall have one,
non-transferable vote for each panel.
The ballot paper will indicate the date
and time for the opening and counting of
the ballot. All parents are welcome to
attend as, in the event of a tied vote,
the election of the nominee shall be
determined by a further vote of parents
in attendance at that
meeting.
