Raffle for two All-Ireland tickets

Posted by Máistir Ó Beirn On September - 15 - 2017

The winner of our draw is Cormac Keane from Kinvara, Galway on behalf of a friend of his Gerry Browne from Balla. A few weeks ago his friend Gerry managed to get him tickets for the hurling All-Ireland Fnal which was such a memorable day for any Galway man that Cormac has been trying to re-pay the compliment since. He is absolutely delighted to win the tickets for his friend from Balla. He sent me the following text:

“I’m overwhelmed with joy as I firmly believe Mayo are going to do it this time and to be there… well, go raibh míle, míle, míle maith agat.”

We streamed the draw live here on our Facebook page. We matched the entries with raffle tickets and published the list here on our website.  Then we laid out the tickets on tables and filmed them as part of the live stream before putting them in the drum so everyone could be assured that the draw was fair. For anyone who missed it, you can view the draw again on facebook.com/gortskehy The stream dropped a bit at the start but we got it going again straight away. You can view a recording of both streams on our page.

The proceeds of the draw go to paying for our recently completed school upgrade and extension. We’ve had entries from far and wide including three from the UK and one from Switzerland. As a four-teacher, rural school we really appreciate the huge support that this draw attracted.

Thank you so much,

Pádraig Ó Beirn

Principal
